How is solar energy generated?
Continuing our series of explanations on the main sources of energy, in today’s post we will talk about how solar energy is generated. Considered one of the main renewable and non-polluting sources, it is an important alternative for the generation of energy, and can be used to generate heat, lighting and electricity.
But how is the light of the sun transformed into energy? This is what we will explain, look:
Capture: Once the sun’s rays reach the Earth’s surface, they are now called infrared radiation, which is captured with the help of photovoltaic cells, also known as solar.
Convert: even inside these photovoltaic cells, semiconductors made of silicon alloys, solar energy is converted into electricity.
Heating: The vast majority of energy collectors looks like flat black boxes on the roofs of buildings. Generally, inside these boxes contains liquids that transfer the heat to the water in tanks or go through in radiators to heat the air.
How about doing an experiment and being able to observe the whole process? Get to know our solar energy transformation set. Oh, and keep following our blog to discover other curiosities in the world of physics.
