Understand more about physical weather
Known mainly by weather forecasting, weather is actually a science that goes far beyond. It encompasses, for example, the studies of phenomena occurring in the atmosphere and of the interactions on the earth’s surface which cause time, climate, climate change and much more. All this through different concepts and areas of study, including physical meteorology.
And what does physical meteorology study?
It is from the point of view of physics, with theories and analysis of experimental results, that physical meteorology investigates the atmospheric phenomena. Some of the themes studied are:
- Thermodynamic processes;
- Composition and structure of the atmosphere;
- Propagation of acoustic waves and electromagnetic radiation through the atmosphere;
- Physical processes involved in cloud formation and precipitation;
- Atmospheric electricity;
- Physicochemical reactions of gases and particles;
- Microphysics of drops and crystals.
Physical meteorology also addresses several other areas, one of which, still under development, is aeronomy, directed exclusively at phenomena in the upper atmosphere.
